Good evening everyone! This week it’s mental health awareness week from today (8 may – 14 may 2017). This is something I feel very strongly about, and highly believe that the stigma surrounding mental health should be removed.
If you are one of the many people who watched 13 reasons why, then you will agree with me in saying that you can really do not know what is going through someone’s head, nor do some people even realise the impact your words and actions can have on people. Although in saying the latter I was quite taken aback how so many people watched the show and it was only that one show to make them realise to be nicer to be people!? Ehh.. more like common sense and decency!?
Anyways, I am a big advocate for raising awareness for mental health and how it’s okay not to be okay. So many people hide themselves in the shadows of their minds and feel they can’t talk to anyone. This is not just with depression, this is with a range of mental illnesses, and sadly they feel harming themselves or committing suicide are thee only answers. They. Are. Not. There are so many resources out to help array of these conditions, and I feel there isn’t enough advertising of these sources, nor do I feel the NHS are doing as much as they should be to reaching out to those in need.
Some of you know me, some of you don’t and this is why I ask you, if you ever feel like you don’t know where to go, or who to turn to please know that I am here. In complete confidence, I will listen, chat, distract you from whatever is keeping you down or anxious or what not.
